Hardware
This is a preliminary ball park estimate of the cost of the of the computational linguistics lab. The prices, particularly for the individual PCs are all taken retail prices from the Dell web-site. There is every reason to think we can do better with CMAS pricing obtained through University Central Stores. The contact person there is Jeff Seabrook at Business Services.

Software
The solution to all our basic software needs is RedHat Linux. Far and away the easiest way to install Linux is to buy a boxed CD for $29.95. One copy can be used any number of times and guarantees us installation and technical support. We should install one copy on each of the 15 machines.
